Mission

Our mission here at the IPC is to grow the sport in India and at the same time give Indian poker enthusiasts the experience of playing in a professionally run set up. Our core team has played in tournament venues like Las Vegas, Asia (Philippines & Macau), Europe and Australia. The insights gained from participating in these international tournaments have spurred us on to create the India Poker Championship. We hope the next known names in the sport come from this part of the world and we are delighted that you have chosen to be a part of our event.

Core Team

Peter Abraham and Sameer Rattonsey are the Directors of the India Poker Championship. Peter had begun reading about the game of poker sometime in 2003 and wanted to introduce it into his regular home game. Sameer who was also a part of that game also was keenly interested in exploring something other than the teen patti that they would usually play. What started as an alternative to teen patti almost a decade ago has turned into something of an obsession for these two.

Over the course of many years of playing the game they realized that they wanted to do something with it in India. Having had the opportunity to play in international setups afforded them an insight into what was missing in the Indian card playing scene. India needed its own Las Vegas or Macau and Goa will hopefully soon prove to be India’s answer to these international casino and poker destinations.

The newest member of the team is Raonak Hathiramani who came onboard in February 2010. Besides being an avid poker enthusiast, Raonak brings his skills in marketing, photography and design to the IPC team.
